Dimetra User Forum November 2023 Meeting: Tavira, Portugal

Director of Complexus, Aaron Donnelly, is the chairman of the Dimetra User Forum.

The Dimetra User Forum is sometimes referred to as the DUF. It is a group of operators and users of Motorola’s Trunked TETRA System, Dimetra. Initiated by TetraNed, the forum was founded in 2004. 

Aaron has been the chairman of the DUF  since January 2019 where it is his role to chair the bi annual meetings. One of the bi annual Dimetra User Forum meetings usually coincides with the Critical Communications World trade event and is hosted by the same country. 

What are the aims of the Dimetra User Forum?

• To provide opportunities for members to exchange experiences and views on all aspects of planning, deploying, operating and using Dimetra systems. This is so that members can benefit from shared insights.
• To facilitate a constructive dialogue at senior engineer level among members and Motorola on customer requirements, market developments and future product strategies.
• To enable members to effectively identify and prioritise requirements of high mutual importance. As well as to communicate clear priorities to Motorola to influence the direction of improvements and future product development.
• To encourage members to work together to resolve issues of concern and to develop effective methodologies for both problem solving and planning system solutions.

Tavira, Portugal Meeting

November 2023’s meeting was hosted by Portugal in the town of Tavira. The event brought together users from around various countries to have an effective dialogue around the enhancements and improvements of the Dimetra technology.

Joining the Dimetra User Forum

Membership of the DUF is open to all organisations operating a Dimetra system. Also for systems integrators delivering a system or service which includes a Motorola Dimetra System. Membership of the forum have only one obligation which is active participation. Current members of DUF operate in sectors such as Government & Public Safety, Industrial, Oil and Gas, Commercial and Transportation.
